This winter sees the launch of the new, larger Mazda 6 in the UK. The car has a bold new look, described by Mazda as being essentially Japanese. Under the skin adjustments to the suspension design, new electric power steering system and a stiffer chassis should deliver improvements in ride and handling quality.

Estate, hatch and saloon versions will be available with improved equipment specifications. Headline equipment features include BOSE audio system, adaptive xenon headlamps, parking sensors and sat nav with touch-screen operation.

The current engine is being used, with both 1.8 and 2.0 petrol and the favourite 2.0 diesel, joined by a new 170hp 2.5 petrol which replaces the previous 2.3 engine.
