New Car Launch - BMW 1 Series Convertible

Next summer BMW will launch a convertible version of its 1 Series model. The styling reflects that of the two-door hardtop, due to be launched shortly, including the reprofiled sills, rear diffuser and deep front valance that are part of the standard-fit M Sport aero package.

There will be one diesel and four petrol engine available at launch, across a power range from 143 to 306hp. Four-cylinder engines will be equipped with BMW’s energy saving stop-start system.

The fabric roof (in beige, black, or grey with silver flecks) opens or closes in around 22 seconds, at speeds up to 25mph. Inside the four seats are finished in leather with a heat-reflecting quality. The air conditioning system also has a default “convertible” setting when it detects roof-down driving. Other features include 17-inch alloy wheels and a discreet rear lip spoiler .

Prices and full specifications will be announced nearer the launch date.
